The Role of Universities in Promoting Student’s Security

Abstract
The study sheds light on the security of university students. It is based on an integrated vision, a realization of variables in this era, and the requirements of actualizing the security of university students. Understanding the university mission and its role in social service constitutes the base for the study objective.
The study defines the concept of security and shows how this concept has become more comprehensive in our era and has come to include many forms. Security can be divided into intellectual security, cultural security, national security, health security, and food security. It can also include psychological security, environmental security, tourism security, occupational security, and regional and international security, etc. The study concentrates on the role played by universities regarding concern given to security issues and problems in order to provide security for university students.
The study indicates ways of promoting university student security. It explores some disciplinary regulations applied by Saudi universities, and how these regulations strongly contribute to the security of universities.
The study offers some recommendations. It indicates that universities should pay more attention to a culture of security in order to disseminate awareness among university students, faculty members, and all university employees.
