Abstract

The current study sought to discover the types of harassment that women working in commercial centers are subjected to and the ways women deal with harassment in Saudi society. This study is a quantitative descriptive study. Non-probability sampling was used where the sample was purposively selected. A questionnaire was distributed among 268 women working in commercial centers. The findings showed that 44.5% of the participants have experienced verbal and harassment, while 37.6% reported being physically touched. Also, 43.59% were subjected to stalking. an indirect way of harassment, 36.3% reported being harassed via social media. In addition, 67.9% of the participants expressed that women who are too extreme in their appearance are more likely to be harassed. The findings also showed that there were no statistically significant differences in terms of social status and level of education and being harassed. The study recommended that the Ministry of Labor and Social Development should regulate certain procedures to deal with harassment complaints.
