Abstract

The study aims at diagnosing and treating the phenomenon of administrative corruption widespread among the countries of the world to varying degrees between each other. This type of corruption is considered a scourge that afflicts state agencies in all its sectors, leaving very serious consequences. The study focuses on the role of police authorities in combating this phenomenon in the Police Service.

The study used the descriptive analytical approach in examining this phenomenon. The study began by defining the administrative corruption, and then it reviewed the forms of corruption that may occur from some employees of police agencies. The study focused on the crime of bribery, embezzlement, abuse of office and abuse of power. The study then dealt with the reasons for the emergence and spread of administrative corruption. It also reviewed the negative effects of administrative corruption on the security, economic, social and political aspects.

Then, the study touched on ways to combat administrative corruption in the Police Service. The study concluded with a set of recommendations, the most prominent of which is the legal amendment by adding strict laws in the face of administrative corruption, such as preventing conflicts of interest, misuse of power, abuse of office and criminalizing the misconducts in society such as favoritism and cronyism. In addition to increasing the activation of the rewards and sanctions for police personnel, educating and training police personnel on the approach to combating the administrative corruption, and supporting and strengthening the principle of cooperation and participation among
