Omar bin Al Arabi Amenchar

Abstract

The subject of this study is traffic education in Islamic curriculums, in particular its concept, fundamental principles, and aims. It also looks into its effect on reducing traffic accidents. The study is based on a strong need for an educational curriculum from an Islamic point of view that reduces traffic accidents. It is based on verses from the Qur’an and the authentic prophetic hadiths that regulate how to act correctly on roads and the ethics related to that. The researcher used the descriptive analytical method.

The results of the study show that traffic education in Islamic curriculums with its different elements (concepts, principles, aims) engrains values into a Muslim related to the protection of human life and wealth and the observance of systems and laws, which has a positive effect on behavior on the roads and leads to a reduction in traffic accidents. ـ

The most important recommendations include the following: Teaching children to act properly on roads and to deal properly with other road users, placing a separate educational subject related to traffic education in each level of education, including traffic education in different study curriculums, opening specialist departments in educational colleges concerned with traffic, and using the media to raise traffic awareness.
