Abstract

This study was divided into two parts. The first part presents the theoretical framework, which included defining the concept of environmental health security, introducing the coronavirus pandemic, and trying to link public health represented by health practices in daily life to the issue of environmental security. The second section presents the applied study that was based on the questionnaire.

The theoretical study aims to introduce the concept of environmental health security, as one of the new concepts in the social sciences. The literature surrounding it is still scarce, given the novelty of the concept itself, the speed of transformations in the global health environment, and its threat to the existence of societies. The applied study aims to identify the level of health environmental awareness in the practices of Saudi community members to deal with the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic, by the questionnaire.

The study was applied to Saudi society in April 2020. It included a sample of 786 persons representing Saudi citizens who are 18 years of age and over, according to seven independent variables (residence area, age, work, educational level, marital status, number of people living with the respondent, and monthly income). The study followed the social survey method, using the quota sample method, and an electric questionnaire was distributed.
